Niho-Taniwha Necklace
Pelaski
Pelaski presents...their exclusive new collection HEI MANAWA
The inspiration for this piece came from the early shark tooth necklaces. From the realm of mythology, this design identifies the godly lineage of high chiefs. Niho-Taniwha (demons tooth) is the principle motif used in taniko weaving, unique to Maori. The pattern is found on the hem of a chief's cloak.
