High Profile Hamilton Art Gallery Seeks Waikato Exhibitors

9 August 2012

Waikato artists and community groups interested in exhibiting their work have until 1 September to apply to ArtsPost, Hamilton city’s high profile retail art space.

The art gallery is looking for submissions from visual artists to exhibit from April 2013 to May 2014. ArtsPost profiles the work of artists and community groups from the Waikato region. ArtsPost Coordinator Marion Manson says this is an opportunity for artists and groups to take advantage of the gallery’s location in the popular south end of Hamilton’s Victoria Street to show and sell their work.

“We offer a high profile space, high foot traffic and substantial sales and promotion opportunities. With three galleries, visitors are assured of variety and we offer professional support for emerging artists and groups to showcase their work to a captive audience,” she says.

The three galleries in Hamilton’s beautifully restored former Post Office building feature a lively calendar of short-term exhibitions. Proposals are evaluated every year for quality, creativity and where possible, timed to align with major events in the Waikato to highlight the work of local artists to the wider community.

“We ask for exhibition proposals now for the April 2013 to May 2014 period so that successful artists have ample opportunity to complete their work in time for their allocated exhibition. It also means we can promote our exhibitions up to six months before they open,” says Ms Manson.

ArtsPost exhibition submissions for the period from April 2013 to March 2014 close on 1 September 2012. Proposal forms can be downloaded online from www.artspost.co.nz and are available from ArtsPost Galleries & Shop, 120 Victoria Street Hamilton from 10.00am until 4.30pm daily.
