Practical motion toy/model-making
26 aPRIL
This is a practical session that will look at preparing several motion toys that are, in effect, simple examples of animatronic creatures in action. Such creations are simply puppets that perform their actions on cue and therefore give the impression that they have a life of their own. While animatronic creatures that appear on film and TV are usually far too complex for children to reproduce, these simple versions are still possible.
We will prepare one that goes up (a climbing creature), one that goes down (a tumbling creature) and one that curls around (a creature’s finger, which can then be replicated and attached to a palm to create a fully functioning creature’s hand).
