Disability Access
Wheelchair access
The Museum is accessible to everyone. External wheelchair ramps are available to the main entrance, and we have internal ramps from the foyer level, through all of the galleries, and down to level 2 (the upper Exscite level). Wheelchairs may be borrowed from the reception desk in the Museum Foyer if needed.
Elevators/lifts
The museum has two lifts. The first caters to the foyer level and Galleries 11 and 12. The lower lift is for travel between the two Exscite floors.
Accessible toilets
There are accessible toilets located on the foyer level, beside the Trust Waikato Gallery, as well as at Level two (the upper Exscite level), both are shown on the museum map.
Disabled parking
A limited number of disabled parking spaces are located on Victoria street, just past Grantham street, for access to the main entrance of the Museum. For large groups we advise phoning ahead to arrange access to the single disabled carpark at the museum trades entrance off Grantham street. Please phone 07 838 6606 to book this park and arrange an escort into the museum.
ArtsPost access
There is an external ramp for access into ArtsPost, and all galleries and the shop are accessible to everyone. There is also a wheelchair accessible toilet.
If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to call 07 838 6606 to speak to a museum customer service officer.
