Waiclay exhibits exciting ceramic pieces from all over New Zealand.  Waiclay was established in 2001 when it was decided to hold a National Ceramic Conference in the Waikato. Alongside this convention was a National Selected Exhibition – held at the Waikato Museum, showcasing the current work of potters throughout New Zealand. This event was a huge success and from this start the organising committee decided to continue holding national exhibitions in the Waikato Museum to bring the best of ceramic artists to the Waikato area.

Over the years the exhibition has developed into an event now known throughout New Zealand with ceramic artists who continually visit and take part in.

The Waikato Museum is proud to support The Waiclay Team National Ceramics Award 2011 and promote excellence in claywork. This year's guest judge is Bruce Dehnert (USA) who boasts an international reputation. Guest artists this year are: Royce McGlashen, John Parker, Paul Maseyk, Fran Maguire, Matt McLean, Cheryl Oliver and Kate Fitzharris.
