Get creative with recycled materials and create your very own dinosaur at your house!
The competition is now on to create your own dinosaur in your front yard. All you need to do is get creating either with your family or on your own, then take a photo and enter it here on line!
Amazing prizes to be won: First prize for each category is a Nintendo Wii; runner up for each category is a $100 Dick Smith Voucher.

- The competition is open to residents in the Waikato Region only.
- No fee is required to enter this competition
- Entries close Labour Day (October 25)
- Participants must complete an online entry form and submit a photograph of their sculpture.
- Entrants can enter one of two categories and need to identify this on the entry form:
- Family or Group
- Individual - The sculpture must be outdoor and be visible from the road but must be within the resident’s property. The Waikato Museum takes no responsibility for the safety and security of the sculpture.
- Entries will be judged and winners will be notified by phone.
- Judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
- Judging will be based on a photo submitted to the Museum and a 100-words about their creation.
- Entrants will be invited to allow us to include their sculpture for a specified period of time in a dinosaur spotting trail that we hope to put together at the conclusion of the competition. This will be a map that we’ll make available online so the public can visit all the sculptures that are included.
- The entrants name and submitted Dinosaur photograph may be used for promotional purposes by the Waikato Museum and Waikato Times.
- Prizes are non-transferable
- Employees of the Waikato Museum, their immediate family and sponsors are not eligible to enter the competition
