Panel discussion,  Saturday, 23 January 2010, 1.30 - 3.00pm

Join us for an informative panel discussion with local intersex artist Yann Bradburn and visiting intersex counsellor Mani Mitchell. Other guests include the Human Rights Commission and local professionals working in this area. This session introduces terminology, includes personal stories covering past and present practices, and explores future ways of working that respect the dignity of intersex people / those diagnosed with  intersex conditions.

Workshop for professionals, Sunday 24 January, 9.00am - 4.00pm

A workshop led by Mani Mitchell, an experienced counsellor and founder of the Intersex Trust of Aotearoa New Zealand. This is an interactive session for professionals working with intersex and gender variant clients. The workshop gives an historical overview, includes personal experiences, and provides guidance around current practice and treatment models. It clarifies the difference between intersex and gender identity issues, including those areas that overlap for some clients. The afternoon will include time to explore active or historic case studies.
