For the first week of the school holidays, the Awesome Activities feature is the pantomime “Puss In Boots”; the second week programme is the usual fun art making.

Our awesome activity for this week is a fun-filled pantomime, “Puss in Boots”, a Pocket Panto, written by Michael Switzer, directed by Andrew Kaye. Great Fun!

Week 2: 5 – 9 October, Awesome Activities

Awesome Activities continue with fun and cool things to make.Harakeke

You can go on a “Never A Dull Moment” quest in the exhibition of the same name and make something creative at each session: a rag rug friendship bracelet, a model Union bridge with toy buggy, a thaumatrope (spinning toy) or a woven harakeke whariki (mat).

$5 per child ($5 for adults too for the pantomime), suitable for children from 5 years.
Caregivers must remain in the Museum while children attend Awesome Activities and accompany children in pantomime.

Week 2 Schedule

Monday 5 October,11am, Harakeke whariki; weave a simple attractive mat from flax.
Tuesday 6 October, 11am, Bridge and buggy; make a a model Union bridge with a moving old style toy buggy.
Wednesday 7 October, 11am; Thaumatrope and friendship bracelet ; Make a Thaumatrope which is a spining picture card game that tricks the eye and then there should be time to make a friendship rag rag bracelet, cool for girls and boys!
Thursday 8 October, 11am, Bridge and buggy; make a a model Union bridge with a moving old style toy buggy.
Friday 9 October, 11am, Harakeke whariki; weave a simple attractive mat from flax or make a friendship bracelet
